Even the heat doesn’t stop a successful Second Saturday
The heat did not keep residents and non-residents alike from enjoying Second Saturday in downtown Linden. Vendors were set up around the beautiful downtown square for people to browse and buy from local business owners. Businesses located on the square were also open so people could step out of the heat and shop in cool comfort. Many vendors offered handmade items such as soaps, candles, and tee shirts. Also on the square was the Don Henley Fan Club selling chances for a quilt, winner to be drawn on November 21.
At five the Linden Main Street Block Party began with music and delicious food. Texas Sno offered up many different flavors of snow cones to ease the heat.
The Lions Club was in attendance, selling hotdogs and chili dogs and provided the music and entertainment. Lion’s Club President Richard Bowden gave a wonderful performance. Songs included Momma She’s Lazy and one lamenting his love for a girl from Three Mile Island.
There were plenty of activities for all ages. A bounce house on the back lawn of the Cass County courthouse where kids could jump for hours.
Washer pitching and beanbag toss games were played by kids of all ages. Sidewalk chalk was also provided for anyone who wanted to show their Linden pride or for games of hopscotch.
Residents and non-residents alike enjoyed all of the festivities with full bellies and full hearts as they sat back along the sidewalks and courthouse lawn watching kids play, listening to good music, and enjoying the company of each other.
