If you’re not a Christian, why not?

Hello, my name is Claude but that is unimportant. I pastor New Colony Baptist Church and that also is not really important. I am writing to encourage Spiritual Growth, that is important. You see no matter if you are a Christian or not we each have room for Spiritual Growth. In point of fact if you have been a Christian for 50 years or never been to Church you have room to grow spiritually. For the non Christian reading this article thank you for your time. For the committed Christian this is not going to be new but this should be challenging.

I need to explain this article has been a subject on my heart for awhile. I do not write to condemn any person or group. That is an area God will take care of. For the non Christian, I want to invite you to attend Church. Not my church, every church is God’s Church, but any church and ask the pastor after the service the questions on your heart. There are no dumb questions, in fact there are very few hard questions.

Most of the questions have actually been asked before. Most of the questions are available if you search the internet, there is an answer. Please look up the questions but beware of only looking for the answers you want. Seek out those answers that challenge your preconceived notions and be able to work thru those issues.

Are you a Christian? If not, why? Christians are taught to think more highly of others than they do of themselves. Christians are taught not to lie, gossip, cheat, or steal. Is that not the type of person you want to be? If it is, then great, join a local church and start the Discipleship process. If not, I would need you to explain to me what is it about Jesus that is not appealing? He lived a humble life, caring for others, not storing up treasure for himself, but pouring out his very blood for us. Us - that means you and me. He did not die for the Christian only but for all of us.

Now if you don’t want to be a Christian, is it because you are so self-centered you just want what you want and do not care about anyone else? Think about that before you get mad at me for being honest. Remember honesty is supposed to be a hallmark of Christianity. If you just want to live your life your way and do not want anyone telling you what to do, or say. If that is where you are in life that is ok, we were all there once. Granted most of us were teenagers when we thought like that. If we were all being honest it is people like that drive us nuts. They complicate our lives with their choices and never seem to appreciate how much we are inconvenienced.

Now if that makes any sense to you, I hope to see you in Church Sunday.

Respectfully,

Claude A. Crocker IV
