Atlanta, Queen City lifters compete at invites
Atlanta Iron competed in the Sulphur Springs Invitational Jan. 13.
Dalton Johnson placed 17th in the 148-pound class with a total lift of 865 pounds, Zachariah Jefferson placed 37th with a total of 710 pounds in the same weight class and Thomas Steward placed 42nd in the same weight class with a total of 610 pounds.
Clayton Mosely finished sixth in the 181-pound weight class with a total lift of 1,165 pounds, Jordan Alvarez placed 11th in the 220-pound weight class with a total lift of 1,035 pounds, Jared Cowgill placed 18th in the 220-pound class with a total of 930 pounds, Tyrell King placed 15th in the 242-pound weight class with a total lift of 1,040 pounds, Jacob Humphrey placed 25th in the same class with a total of 810 pounds and Francisco Martinez placed 21st in the 275-pound class with a total lift of 1,010 pounds.
Jan. 27 the Rabbs’ powerlifting program competed in the Emory Rains Invitational.
The meet was stacked with teams from Greenville, Sulphur Springs, Tyler, Mt. Pleasant, North Lamar, Kemp, Mabank, New Diana, Kaufman, Fairfield, Linden-Kildare, Brownsboro, Mineola, Commerce and Howe.
Cody Maxie placed eighth in the 123-pound class with a total lift of 690 pounds, Richardson placed 24th in the 148-pound class with a total of 625 pounds, Jacob Nash placed third in the 165-pound class with a total lift of 1,145, Jeremiah Jefferson placed 15th in the 181-pound class with a total of 815 pounds, Conner Samples placed 11th in the 191-pound class with a total of 975 pounds, Trey Adams placed third in the 220-pound class with a total of 1,135 pounds, Tyrell King placed eighth in the 242-pound class with a total of 1,070 pounds, Francisco Martinez placed eighth in the 275-pound class with a total of 1,055 pounds and Dustin Williams placed sixth in the Super Heavyweight division with a total of 1,255 pounds.
Cyrah Jones was the lone Lady Rabbit at the event and she had a total lift of 460 pounds.
Atlanta Iron will compete next at Lone Oak High School Feb. 3.
The Queen City boys’ powerlifting team traveled to Detroit Jan. 20, and placed second overall as a team.
It was a close finish as Paris Chisum had just one more point than the Bulldogs.
Ben Harris, Christian Little, and Dalton Howell placed first in their divisions and Daniel Keene placed second in his division. Harris lifted a total of 825 pounds, Howell lifted 1,125 pounds total, Little lifted 1,365 pounds total and Keene lifted 1,100 pounds total.
Other lifters were Kody Nichols who totaled 970 pounds, T.J. Stagner who totaled 835 pounds and Drake Moore who totaled 590 pounds.
The Lady Bulldogs placed third behind strong lifters from Prairiland and Chisum.
Alyssa Clements placed first in her division with a total lift of 735 pounds, Macey Belote placed first with a total of 595 pounds and Beatriz Martins placed second with a total of 365 pounds.
Erica Jones had a total of 525 pounds lifted and Brooklyn Lee had a total of 295 pounds lifted.
The QC girls will lift again Feb. 5, at Winnsboro High School, and the boys will be at Winnsboro Feb. 8.
