AHS Cheerleaders show out at State UIL
The Atlanta varsity cheerleaders competed at the UIL Spirit State Championship Friday, Jan. 12, placing seventh overall out of 75 squads in the 4A Division. They earned the State Champion Title for best band dance in 4A.
The UIL Spirit State Championship is an extracurricular activity that focuses on the traditional game day role cheerleaders have on the sidelines and in schools supporting athletic teams. At the State Championships, schools compete in three categories: crowd leading, fight song, and band dance.
“I could not be more proud. These young ladies are dedicated, hardworking, and amazing to coach. It has been a good, memorable year,” said Renee Rosser, AHS Varsity Cheer Coach.
“We would like to thank Elaine Johnson, JV Cheer Coach; AISD Administrators; AHS Athletic Booster Club; and the community for your encouragement and support. We can’t do what we do without you,” Rosser added.
