Julia Francis Pierce, 60, of Morrilton, Ark., formerly of Atlanta and Texarkana, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at her residence.
She was born March 26, 1957, in Terre Haute, Ind., to Joe and Harriett Francis. She was a homemaker and attended Journey Church of Perryville, Ark. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening in her greenhouse, cooking and painting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Braxten Evans; and a son-in-law, Warren Dodds.
She is survived by three daughters, Rendy Jo Wright and husband Keith of Hooks, Janie Dodds of Forney and Samantha Battenfield and Derrick Wilkes of Morrilton, Ark.; son, Michael Battenfield of Melborne, Fla.; three brothers, Frank Francis and wife Billie of Loganville, Ga., Bill Francis and wife Nina of Little Rock, Ark., and Sam Francis and wife Diana of Atlanta; sister, Janie Williford and husband Ted of White Lake, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Nathaniel Allen, Laney Oliver, Bryce Williams, Ethan Jones, Nyle Jones, McCullouch Dodds and Autlie Dodds; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services were at 10 am, Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Christian Fellowship Church in Queen City with Bro. Rusty Tyson, LaDonna Tyson and Bill Francis officiating. Interment followed at Smyrna Cemetery under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

Troy Weldon Woodruff, 81, of New Boston, passed away Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at his residence. He was born Sept. 30, 1936, in Cass County. He was a retired computer operator from Red River Army Depot, a U. S. Air Force veteran and a member of Tapp United Methodist Church of New Boston.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Woodruff of New Boston; one son, Jody Woodruff and wife Cheryl of Douglassville; six daughters, Sonya Guthrie and husband Darrel of Van Alstyne, Troyla Ford of Arlington, Brandy Mitchell and husband Keith of New Boston, Kelly Eaves and husband Ronald of Simms, Laurie Pace and husband David of New Boston and Emily Woodruff  of Texarkana; three sisters, Virginia Woodruff of Moultrie, Ga., Betty Jennings and husband David of Bivins and Barbara Hanes and husband Jerry of Hooks; five brothers, William Woodruff of Queen City, Coy Woodruff of Malta, Donald Woodruff and wife Sharon of Malta, David Woodruff and wife Julie of Rosser and Howard Woodruff of Malta; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at Bates Rolf Funeral Home in New Boston.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at Tapp United Methodist Church in New Boston with Rev. Tommy Burton officiating. Interment will follow at Ringwood Cemetery in New Boston under the direction of Bates Rolf Funeral Home.

Martha Nottingham, 61, of Atlanta, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, in a Texarkana hospital.
She was born May 12, 1956, in Arcata, Calif., to R. E. and Vera Fike. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, R. E. Fike; brother, Robert Fike; and a sister, Lillie Fike.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony Nottingham of Atlanta; two daughters, Vicki Bell and husband Bill of McLeod and Rose Nottingham of Atlanta; son, Keith Nottingham of Atlanta; three sisters, Dian Fike of Atlanta, Fay Jones of Fouke, Ark., and Bonnie Latham of Texarkana; six grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Viewing was from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Hanner Funeral Service.
Graveside services were at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at Courtland Cemetery with Bro. Lonnie Jones and Kenneth Jones officiating under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

Lois Taylor, 86, of Hope, Ark., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at Heather Manor Nursing Home in Hope. She was born in Osawatomie, Kansas, Dec. 13, 1930, to Earl A. and Audrey D. Cox Clearwater. She was a retired store clerk, who had worked for Safeway Grocery Company for many years. She was a member of the Cass County Cowboy Church in Atlanta and enjoyed spending time with her church family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Audrey Clearwater; her husbands, James B. Laphier and Glen W. Taylor; a brother, Elmer Clearwater; and a granddaughter, Amanda Renee Gearlds.
She is survived by two sons, James A. “Jim” Laphier of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Michael J. Laphier of Atlanta; her three daughters, Diane Hensley of Ashdown, Ark., Beverly Calhoun and husband Jim of Hope, Ark., and Deb Schuldt of Montezuma, Iowa; and her sister, Earlene Dawson of Little Rock, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, De. 8, at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest the Funeral Home of Hope.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Beech Creek Cemetery in Atlanta with Bro. Eric Cunningham officiating under the direction of BRAZZEL/Oakcrest the Funeral Home of Hope

Doyle Dean Sprayberry, 60, lifelong resident of Atlanta, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017. He was born March 12, 1957, to Jim and Lillian Sprayberry. He was a logger all of his life, a man that would do anything he could for his friends and family and he never met a stranger. He loved the outdoors, fishing and his dogs.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jim and Lillian Sprayberry; his brothers, Jerry Sprayberry and Buddy Sprayberry; his sisters, Marie Elliot and Lorine Alexander; and his granddaughter, Joelee Ann Sprayberry. 
He is survived by his three sons; James Nottingham and wife Shena of Glenwood, Ark., Danny Sprayberry and wife Angela of Rodessa, La., and William Sprayberry and wife Claudia of Atlanta; six grandchildren, Tera and John Stokes, Casen Humphrey, Caden Sprayberry, Lilly Sprayberry and Molly Pruitt; his sisters, Melba Brown of Atlanta and Faye Alvariex of Douglasville; and his brother, Lonnie Sprayberry of Atlanta; and many nieces and nephews. 
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, La. 
Graveside funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Smyrna Cemetery in Smyrna with Bro. Lemoine Wiggins officiating under the direction of Gorsulowsky Funeral Home.
