MARY HATTIE BROOKS

Mary Hattie Dauphin Brooks, 88, of Atlanta, went to her Heavenly home Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born, Jan. 18, 1929, in Ida, La., the eldest of six children, to Eldridge Eugene and Thelma Wilson Dauphin. She attended Huffines schools and was a graduate of McLeod High School. She then attended Charity Nursing School in Shreveport, La., North Louisiana Nursing School in Shreveport, and finished her nursing education at “Big Charity” in New Orleans, La. Later she returned to New Orleans, and graduated from anesthesia school.
She was a well-known breeder of champion quarter horses. The American Quarter Horse Association as a 50-year quarter horse breeder recognized her in 2016. She had a love for her animals, for music and a passion for her career. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Atlanta, a current member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and a member and past Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Confederacy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Dr. M. James Brooks Jr.; stepson, Marshall James Brooks III; and sister, Jerry Ann Noah.
She is survived by her daughter, Camille Smith Dawn and husband Joe Edward Dawn Jr. of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Mary Dawn Smith and husband Christopher Smith of Carthage and Joe Dauphin Dawn and wife Krystl of Atlanta; two great-grandchildren, Gunner and Halley Dawn of Atlanta; brother, Gene Dauphin of Natchez, Miss.; sisters, Latricia Kennedy and Ramona Halten both of Atlanta; step-daughter, Kathleen Brooks Verschoyle of Atlanta; four step grandchildren, Brook, Becky, James and Victoria; special cousin, Ken Anderson of Atlanta; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A special thanks to the staff of Rose Haven and our wonderful caregivers, June Head, Lisa Thompson and Stacy Taylor.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Hanner Funeral Service.
Services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the Hanner Funeral Chapel with Dylan Manley officiating. Interment followed at Pine Crest Cemetery under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

ROY DOUGLAS CHISM

Roy Douglas Chism, 75, of Atlanta, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served his country with pride.
He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Homer and Jackie Chism; his stepfather and mother, Bill and Vera Barber; his brothers, Homer “Buddy” Wayne and Gerry Milton Chism; and his sister-in-law, Linda Hall Chism.
He is survived by his life-mate, Margaret Law; his son, Douglas W. Chism of Shreveport, La.; his daughter, Donna Chism Stevens of Oklahoma; his brother, Ronnie Chism; and his stepchildren, John and Peter Hogan and Tess Burke; his grandchildren, Bethany, Abby and Hanna Stevens; Eli, Iley and Endly Chism; a very special niece close to his heart, Lillian Chism Wheless, and a host of others, but Margaret says there are too many to list.
Visitation was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield, La.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Chism and the Rev. Alton Middleton officiating. Interment followed at Old Union Cemetery in Benson, La., under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers were Eli Chism, John Hogan, Peter Hogan, Michael Wheless, Justin Wheless and Steven Cox.
BLANCHARD EUGENE DISOTELL

Blanchard Eugene Disotell, 91, of Bussey, Ark., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017. He was born April 21, 1926, in Springhill, La., to Nolie and Eliza Taylor Disotell. He was a member of the North Arkansas Street Church of Christ in Springhill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years, Ruth Disotell; brothers, R. T. Disotell and Winfred Disotell; and a sister, Mildred Andress.
He is survived by a daughter, Freeda Hanson and husband William of Bussey, Ark.
Visitation was from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Taylor, Ark.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 27, at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Dale Alexander officiating. Interment followed at the Bussey Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Aaron Hanson, Arthur Hanson, Joe Demmon, Johnny Disotell, Mike Foster and Randy Disotell served as pallbearers.
