The Queen City Lady Bulldogs have been on a tear. The Lady Bulldogs opened the season with a big, 52-45, win over Pleasant Grove. The score was knotted at 25-all going into halftime but the third quarter was the difference as QC outscored the Lady Hawks 15-8.
Jessica Jones scored a team-high 27 points, Jacie Lance added 11, Madison Jones put up eight points and Ce Ce Walker drained six points.
QC was 5-of-10 beyond the arc but was 9-of-10 from the charity stripe.
Walker pulled down 10 boards and Madi Jones gathered seven rebounds.
QC faced Maud Nov. 16, and beat the Lady Cardinals, 64-37, in the first game of the International Paper Pineywoods Classic at Queen City High School.
Jessica Jones scorched the nets with 33 points, Madi Jones added 10 and Jacie lance had eight.
Jessica Jones was 5-for-5 from the line and had nine rebounds which was just behind Ce Ce Walker’s 11. All-in-all the Lady Bulldogs pulled down 47 boards.
The next game was a meeting with 5A Marshall. The Lady Bulldogs dispatched the Lady Mavericks, 63-16.
Jessica Jones scored 32 points, Madi Jones 10 and Jacie Lance nine.
Ce Ce Walker pulled down 11 boards and Jessica Jones had 10 rebounds.
The final game was a, 47-27, win over district and county foe Hughes Springs Nov. 18.
Jessica Jones scored 21 points and Jacie Lance added 17.
Jessica Jones was perfect from the charity stripe with a 5-for-5 performance.
Ce Ce Walker pulled down eight rebounds and Jacie Lance, Madi Jones and Jessica Jones each added seven boards apiece.
Atlanta’s Lady Rabbs’ basketball team decimated DeKalb, 80-19.
The Lady Rabbs were up 22-2 after one quarter of play and posted a 45-9 lead the break.
Keyona Easter had a team-high 23 points, Sheveonia Smith added 21, Brittany Collins 11, Kinsey Kelly had seven, Amber Adams, Cyrah Jones, and Jenifer Easter each had four points, Tristen Lee recorded two points and Gracie Smith three.
The JV squad also topped DeKalb, 30-12.
Dyamond Grant had 10 points and Haley Sprayberry added nine.
The Atlanta Lady Rabbs fell to #6 Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill by the score of 71-59. Mt. Pleasant pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure the victory. Atlanta was led by Sheveonia Smith with 21 points. Kinsey Kelly and Brittany Collins each added 12 for the Lady Rabbs.
In the JV game Atlanta claimed a 30-24 victory. Charity Henderson led the way with 12 points and Dyamond Grant added 10 points.
The Atlanta Lady Rabbs traveled to Jefferson and defeated the Lady Bulldogs 59-27. Keyona Easter led Atlanta with 18 points and Brittany Collins added 17.
Also leading the way for the Lady Rabbs was Amber Adams with 10 points.
The Atlanta Lady Rabbs defeated Hawkins on the road last week. Atlanta used a strong first half in scoring and a well-played defensive fourth quarter to hold on to the win. Keyona Easter led all scorers with 22 points and Sheveonia Smith added nine for Atlanta.
The Atlanta Lady Rabbs jumped out to an early lead against Sabine as they cruised to a 64-53 victory. Keyona Easter led Atlanta with 21 points. Sheveonia Smith added 15 and Kinsey Kelly 10.
The Atlanta Lady Rabbs took advantage of an early lead as they cruised to a 57 - 20 victory over Ore City. Atlanta held Ore City to 4 points in the first half. Keyona Easter led the way with 22 points. Brittany Collins added 14 points and Sheveonia Smith 12.
The McLeod boys’ basketball team won second place in a tournament at Avinger last week. The Longhorns cruised to an easy victory in the first game, defeating Avinger 57-35. Trevor Deel led McLeod in scoring with 13 points followed by Zach Prince with 12 points.
The Longhorns dropped the second game of the tournament, falling 75-62 to Grand Saline. Deel led with 19 points and Blake Williams added 12.
In the third game, McLeod defeated CHAMP 68-43. Prince led the Longhorns with 21 points.
In the fourth game, McLeod defeated New Diana 63-25. Casey Smith led McLeod with 14 points. McLeod also defeated Miller Grove and Athens Prep.
McLeod visited and defeated the Bloomburg Wildcats 66-25 Nov. 14, at Bloomburg High School. Top scorers for the Longhorns were Zach Prince with 21 points and Blake Williams with 12.
Bloomburg was led by Hunter Garrett with nine points.
The McLeod Lady Longhorns defeated the Bloomburg Lady Wildcats 59-41 as Selena Moon led McLeod with 23 points and Jillian Ellis added 13.
Top scorer for Bloomberg was Campbell with 20 points.
In junior high action the McLeod eighth grade boys fell to Maud 51-37.
Tyler Williams led the Longhorns in scoring with 23 points.
The McLeod eight grade girls defeated Maud 41-8 as Gracie Lane led McLeod with 13 points.
In the seventh grade games, the Longhorns defeated Maud 50-12.
Henry Teer led with 12 points and Logan McClain and Preston Bishop added 10 each. McLeod’s seventh grade girls fell to Maud 22-12.
The Bloomburg Wildcats opened their season against CHAAMP Friday, 41-39. The game was close from beginning to end with 14 lead changes. The ’Cats were led by Dakota Welborn’s 14 points, Conner Hooker had 13, and Hunter Garrett added seven points.
The Lady Wildcats started the season by defeating Hooks on the road Tuesday, 55-27 and CHAAMP, 58-36, during their home opener. This year they have put the focus on an aggressive defense and up-tempo offense.
During the Hooks game, they were led by Erin Evans with 19 points, Haylee Campbell added 15 and 10 rebounds, Karlee Cressionnie scored 10 points along with 11 steals and Trinity Mouser chipped in with four points with seven assists. The defense forced 31 total turnovers.
During the CHAAMP game, the Lady Wildcats were led by Haylee Campbell with 19 points and 11 rebounds, Trinity Mouser added 18 points, eight assists, six rebounds and six steals, Karlee Cressionnie had 12 points and four steals, and Erin Evans scored seven points to go along with six rebounds and five steals. The defense forced 35 turnovers.
The Bloomburg Junior High Lady Wildcats traveled to Union Hill and picked up two wins.
The “B” team won 30-4. Tori Clayton scored 10 points, Jacee Glasgow added eight, and Jenna Lavoie and Kaleigh Glasgow chipped in with four points each.
In the second game, the “A” team defeated the Bulldogs, 21-5. They were led by Haylee “Bob” Breedlove with 13 points, Erica Lavoie added four points and Aubrie Kiser and Katie Mote added two points each.
