Plus, participants had the opportunity meet Omar Ishaq, M.D., Radiation Oncologist with the W. Temple Webber Cancer Center at CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System.
““Early detection is key in breast cancer because it’s been shown to reduce mortality, the risk of you dying, by about twenty percent, which is huge,” shared Omar Ishaq, M.D., Radiation Oncologist with the W. Temple Webber Cancer Center. “If we can catch a cancer earlier, now we have techniques and technologies to really actually treat less area, but still get the same result.”
American Cancer Society recommends women over the age of 40 should start to receive an annual breast cancer screening with a mammogram. Women should also know how their breasts normally look and feel and report any breast changes to a health care provider right away.
