Tigers open season with a win over Harleton
Linden-Kildare started its 2017 campaign with a, 35-26, win over Harleton last Friday night at Jack Hetherington-Tiger Stadium.
After a scoreless first quarter the Tigers built a 28-8 lead going into halftime. The Wildcats scored 18 unanswered points with 12 in the third and six in the fourth to bring the score to, 28-26, with 5:41 left in the contest but a late touchdown sealed the win for L-K.
LaDavian Johnson racked up more than 160 yards on the ground with three touchdowns, quarterback Marty Johnson was 5-for-8 with 155 yards and a touchdown which included a 95-yard bomb to Ja’Kevian Rose. Rose also rushed for 73 yards and a score on top of 139 yards receiving on the night.
L-K’s defense also turned up and nabbed three interceptions in the process of the contest.
Next week the Tigers travel to Clarksville to take on the other Tigers. Clarksville lost its opening game to Edgewood, 38-6.
Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at New Century Club Field in Clarksville.
