The Texas Water Development Board formally approved the 2022 State Water Plan at their board meeting in Austin on July 7, and the approved plan does include the construction of Marvin Nichols Reservoir in the Sulphur River basin.
The lily pads were in bloom last weekend at the Caddo National Wildlife Refuge in Karnack. See page 5 for more photos of the area that used to be Longhorn Army Ammunition Plant and Thiokol.
On July 8 it was reported that “Atlanta ISD lost longtime Rabbit Joe Wall after a battle with heart complications. Joe made a huge difference in the lives of the students and community of Atlanta, Texas as a fan, board member, and community supporter and will be missed tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.” Wall was on the Atlanta ISD board of directors. His obituary with more information on his life can be found on page 11 of today’s paper.
