Class of 2020 to enter Atlanta Hall of Fame

What an interesting threesome to be honored Friday night at the Atlanta-Gilmer football game at Rabbit Stadium. A few minutes prior to kickoff (just after 7 P.M.) three former outstanding Atlanta sports figures will be inducted into the Atlanta Athletics Hall of Fame (HOF) as the third class, 2018, 2019 and now 2020. The prior two classes have brought eight honorees and this group gives the HOF a total of eleven members. Black granite plaques for each one will go up on the entry wall under the press box at the stadium. Photos of each one and a summary of their achievements are etched on the plaques.

The second-ever Amber Alert issued in Atlanta was toned out to public cell phones on Tuesday, September 1, at 7:19 p.m. in response to a missing children’s report issued by the mother of Alex Arwood, 11, and one-year-old Tru Speratos. The Atlanta Police Department requested the Amber Alert immediately after receiving the call around noon on Tuesday.

Keta Lawson, the daughter of Robert Lawson of Atlanta, organized a peaceful protest to support the Queen City High School football players who choose to kneel during the National Anthem at the August 28 game against Linden-Kildare. About 20 people gathered for two hours Saturday, Sept. 5 in downtown Atlanta at the Plaza on Main. A march around the block ended at Veterans Memorial Plaza.
