Growing up in Atlanta, Amy O’Rear never thought that one day she would own the big white mammoth of a house that stood on the corner of Allday and Louise Streets. Much like other kids in town, she often wondered what it looked like inside.
CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital - Atlanta honored their volunteers with a luncheon on Thursday, April 29, at the hospital to thank them for their dedication and to welcome the volunteers back to service following the COVID-19 pandemic hiatus. The luncheon also served as an opportunity for the volunteers to award scholarships to two graduating seniors from McLeod and Linden-Kildare schools.
On Saturday, June 5, the Atlanta High School Class of 1956 will celebrate their 65th Reunion in Atlanta. A tour of Atlanta-Miller Grade School will begin at 10 a.m. Friends can meet for lunch at a local restaurant if they want. That afternoon the class will gather at the home of Jane Barn hill (306 S. Bogie St) for fellowship and dinner at 6 p.m. Pictured is the cast of the Senior Class Play in 1956.
Friday, May 14, the Atlanta Senior Center will be celebrating its grand reopening and would like to invite you to join them. There will be a live band starting at 10 A.M. and a free fish fry (for seniors 60 years if age and older) starting at 11:30 A.M. until all food is gone! We hope to see you there!
Some of the newest members of Mark Epperson Chapter United States Daughters of 1812 recently shared their beautiful membership certificates at a chapter meeting. The lineage society’s official certificate depicts a window in St. Michael’s and All Angels Church in Dartmoor, England. American prisoners of war in the War of 1812 built the church.
