I believe that Cass County is on the cusp of growth. With the continued infrastructure improvements in our community and the trickle of new businesses, the prospect of a bright future for our community seems strong. Regardless of what your thoughts are about Starbucks building a location in our community, businesses like CEFCO and Starbucks aren’t going to invest in a dying community.
As a resident of Cass County and as our county judge, I know the values and ideals our community cherishes. We believe in a free market and limited government intervention in all aspects of our economy and life. Unfortunately, certain Washington bureaucrats don’t seem to hold those same principles in high esteem. Most recently, some lawmakers have proposed policies that expand the government’s role in our health care system by targeting the pharmacy benefits that are essential to making sure prescription medications are affordable for our families.
Earlier this week Texas Conservation Alliance sent a press release informing people that there was a hearing that stopped the build of a potential lake that like this area’s situation would have flooded their area to introduce a large body of water. The TCA has been at the forefront of informing the greater community of Northeast Texas about the dangers of the Marvin Nichols Project.
As we approach the end of 2023, it is appropriate to pause and reflect on what we’ve accomplished and where we are going. Cass County has a rich heritage and a bright future! The year 2023 will soon be part of that history.
