ROBERT EDWARD LEE FANT Robert “Bob” Edward Lee Fant, 9th child of Edward Waldo and Sarah Caroline (Simmons) Fant, of South Carolina, was born in Cass County on Aug. 2, 1876 in the Lanier Community, d. Feb. 20, 1956, m/1 Jewell Hendricks, Divorced. m/2 Fannie Fort,, b. Jan. 4, 1886, d. 1966.

The entry is one of 13 winners in the “I Love My County Because” student art competition. In an effort to bolster civic education and educate communities on the role of county government, the National Association of Counties (NACo) conducted an “I Love My County Because…” Student Art Contest.
Coleman featured on product nationally
Target, Walmart and other national retailers are selling local hero Bessie Coleman Mattel Barbie Doll as part of their black history displays. As many in our community know, February is Black History Month. As a commemoration, local contributor Raydeen Edwards will be featuring individuals who continue to make an impact on the black community as well as those like Coleman who have their roots in Cass County. This set of stories in 2024 will focus on entrepreneurs and educators.
