Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), in partnership with The Nature Conservancy in Texas (TNC) announced it has helped secure a 10-year commitment of 200 acre-feet per year of surface water to help conserve Big Cypress Bayou in northeast Texas.

The Atlanta Lions Club was treated to a delightful program last week, featuring Roger Sheppard’s Redbone Magic. Sheppard’s magical performance was both informative and entertaining. Sheppard, at right, was delighted to have Lions President Billy Hensley help him with his ring demonstration.
Senate Bill 1369 directing the designation of Texas Highway 11 and 49 between the eastern city limit of Daingerfield and the western city limit of Hughes Springs as the US Army Staff Sergeant Samuel T. Castle Memorial Highway was signed into law earlier this week by Governor Greg Abbott becoming effective on September 1, 2025. This bill took 90 days from the time it was filed on February 18, 2025 until it was enacted May 19, 2025.
It’s not often that families have such a clear and informative outline of their genealogical history, but that is precisely what Carolyn Renshaw devoted over 30 years of her life to. Renshaw, whose children include Sheri Avalos and Randy Strawn of Atlanta, is my grandmother. She celebrated her 83rd birthday on Saturday, May 10.
