Atlanta Lions Club gave five $1000 scholarships out to Seniors from Atlanta,Ty Graf, Keymyah Smith, and Caedmon Larson; Queen City, Clayton Wellington; and one home school student, Chanlee Long.Vincent Chapman spoke to the club about Banana Ball and brought an autographed baseball the club will be auctioning off.

Thomas Mott “born June 14, 1827 in Wilkinson County, Georgia. The son of Zachariah Mott born about 1794, died 1856 in Macon County, Georgia, married (1) a Hudson, (2) Matilda Castleberry. It is not certain which of the wives was the mother of Thomas, it is believed Matilda was his mother. Thomas died November 11, 1883. He married September 8, 1859, Cass County, Tex. to Lucy Elizabeth “Liz” Brooks, daughter of William B. and Ally Underwood Brooks. It is said that Tom and Liz were sweethearts in Georgia. When she moved to Texas with her family, he was heartbroken. After the death of his mother, he came to Texas, and they were married. The are both buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cass County.
