WHERE IS IT?

Citizens Journal-Sun

The mystery animal is up in the air and wanting to be inside, but he’s simply a pig, and although he may look acceptable, he’s probably not going to be someone’s pet. So Where Is He? That’s your question for this week’s Where Is It game. Hint? He’s at the window of a downtown store in Atlanta. See answer below.

Well made. Nice eyebrows. Big snout. He’s just the right symbol to announce the presence of East Texas Meat Slingers, the local meat market at 101 North East St. in Atlanta.

He’s a bit like a jewel, and owners Jeff and Kathryn East are proud to have him outside their showroom window.

The meat market prides itself on looking good, too. In fact, that’s their business claim to fame. To look good and taste good, too.

“We’re transparent,” says Kathryn. “We look good and taste good, too.”

East Texas Meat Slingers has been in business since October of 2023. They feature hand-cut steaks, fresh ground beef and specialty meat such as duck and lamb.

“All very fresh and clean as much as possible,” tells Kathryn.

One customer visiting the store last week said he comes because everything is so fresh and easy to acquire. Quick in, quick out, take home and prepare.

“You can taste the difference,” he said.

Meat Slingers is a local meat market alternative. That’s why the pig looking through the front window is so dressed up. He’s got a purpose.

Two high school student employees are shown with owner Kathryn East at the display case for the local meat market. The two are Brookelynn Harrist and Macy Hood.
