WHERE IS IT?
This week’s Where Is It? mystery really should be entitled the “Who, What, When, Where and Why” mystery. This is because the answer is an entire group of high school students who’ve put on a play and devoted hours to memorizing lines all to scare its audience with a story about the death of a mill girl.
That alone should be enough to scare you. So, the Where Is It? answer is the Atlanta High School drama students who performed for their UIL one-act play competition March 7 at Northeast Texas Community College in Mt. Pleasant.
“The UIL competition is a showcase for high school theatre,” tells AHS Theatre Director Kristen McCasland. “It’s a vital educational experience that cultivates creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, self-confidence and public speaking skills. The experience encourages students to think outside the box and explore the world of storytelling.”
McCasland is also a Pre-AP English II teacher. The play is “The Light in the Mill” by D.K. Oklahoma. At its very start, the drama has a body being carried onstage by a handyman. Thereafter, there is the possibility of her ghost haunting the mill. A bit of hysteria is created. Here are several posed pictures.
