BANDS PERFORM WELL IN STATE

Queen City’s Band of Champions and Atlanta’s Big Bad Band from Rabbit Land were two of just a few in all of Class 3A that made it to the finals of the state march ing competition in San Antonio last week. The Band of Champions placed third overall and the Big Bad Band from Rabbit Land placed fourth overall. TED THOMPSON

Ted Thomson passes Jan. 20, just three days after his 68th birthday.

SNOWSTORM

A winter storm left all of Texas covered in snow, with Cass County seeing upwards of 16 inches, according to area residents. Four friends – Danielle Smith, Stephanie Garrett, Candace Nuckels, and Matt Hinton – took advantage of this rare occurrence and spent six hours building a truly Texas-sized giant snow cowboy. Standing at 10 feet tall, the four had the help of a Kubota and several stepladders to place the higher tiers. Montana, the dog, “helped”.

JOE WALL PASSES

On July 8 it was reported that “Atlanta ISD lost longtime Rabbit Joe Wall after a battle with heart complications. Joe made a huge difference in the lives of the students and community of Atlanta, Texas as a fan, board member, and community supporter and will be missed tremendously.”

CAFFÉ CREMA OPENS

Hailey Taylor, with owners Tanya & Greg Beers, opened their business, Caffe Crema, on May, 24.

L-K BREAKS GROUND

Linden-Kildare CISD officially broke ground on the school district’s newest projects, which will include demolition and complete rebuild of the school’s 100-yearold gymnasium, several new administration offices, a new school entrance, and more.
