Texas Unclaimed Property Search
Texas has returned more than $5-Billion in unclaimed property to its rightful owners. Since 1963, Texas has required institutions, businesses and governmental entities to report to the state any personal property that has been unclaimed for up to five years, depending on the property in question. Unclaimed property can be abandoned assets. Some examples:
• dividend, payroll or cashier’s checks
• stocks, bonds or mutual fund accounts
• utility deposits and other refunds
• bank accounts and safe deposit box contents
• insurance proceeds
• mineral interest or royalty payments
• court deposits, trust funds or escrow accounts
• overpayments on insurance, utilities and other bills

Brigadier General Langston Pyle
This week’s Cass County Pioneer is Langston Pyle. Brigadier General Langston Pyle was born December 30, 1930 and grew up in Atlanta, Texas. He graduated from Atlanta High School in 1948, and continued his education at Kilgore College. After graduation, Pyle began a career with the Texas Highway Department where he became known for his ability to fix just about anything. He also developed a talent for flying small aircraft.
Pyle also joined the Texas Army National Guard. In his decades with the Guard, Pyle served at Fort Sam Houston, Fort Hood, and the Pentagon. He developed leadership skills that earned numerous commendations, such as the Legion of Merit, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Texas Medal of Merit. Brigadier General Langston Pyle passed away July 18, 2012, in Atlanta, Texas and is buried at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery which is dedicated to the memory of all the patriotic men and women who answered their country’s call to service.

Jobs in and around Cass County Part Time - Veteran Services Officer - The VSO is a Cass County employee that will aid any county resident who served in the armed forces of the United States, and any orphan or dependent of the person, to prepare, submit, and present any claim against the United States or a State for benefits to which the person may be entitled under United States or State law.
Custodian - Responsible for maintenance of assigned county buildings and upkeep of the grounds. Perform all duties as required to maintain a good and clean environment. This includes but is not limited to dusting; sweeping; mopping, stripping, and waxing floors; cleaning and maintaining restrooms .
Blade Operator - Effectively operate various sizes and models of self propelled motor graders to spread and level dirt, gravel, stone, and other road materials to rough and fine grade specifications in construction and maintenance of county roads.
