Texas Bluebonnet Girls State receive awards
Linden-Kildare High School students Grace Broussard, Alayna Mason, Peyton Turner, Marissa Tyson, and Kyndall Eudy recently received awards from American Legion Post 258 in Atlanta for their attendance of the Girls State Session at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas on June 2019.
Also known as Texas Bluebonnet Girls State, this is a week-long program where participants known as “citizens” during the program get to organize their own city, county, and state offices.
They held mock legislature where they are able to introduce and debate their own bills.
During the week-long session, participants also got to hear from many wonderful government speakers which included First Lady Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson and George W. Bush. The program ended with a trip to the State Capitol building and the girls were given the opportunity to sight-see and meet state officials.
