Detectives with the Atlanta Police Department arrested Jaylen Juanye Green on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, on the multiple active warrants that had been issued for his arrest. In the Facebook post, the department “added that all subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
At the time of the arrest the Atlanta Police Department had multiple active arrest warrants for Green of Queen City, Texas: Improper Relationships with a Stuu dent and a Child, Warrant: 23-065 (Felony II); Sexual Assault of a Child, Warrant: 23-066 (Felony II); and Sexual Assault of a Child, Warrant: 23-067 (Felony II). Atlanta ISD released information to the Journal- Sun that his time with the district ended about two weeks ago. “He was hired on August 3, 2023, and his employment ended on November 17, 2023.”
When asked if the Atlanta ISD teachers went through any special training or guidance on staff-related relationships, the district office stated that “all staff must complete training on this through ‘Public School Works’. He did complete the training.”
The office went on to say additional information was not available since it is an ongoing investigation.
This is not the first time that a teacher has been arrested this year for having an improper relationship with a student. Taureaus Alvaro Maxwell Jr. was arrested on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 by the Cass County Sheriff ’s Office on multiple warrants for Indecency with a Child (Second Degree Felony), Online Solicitation of a Child (Third Degree Felony}, and Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student (Second Degree Felony).
Maxwell Jr. was employed as a teacher and a coach by the Atlanta Independent School District and worked at the Atlanta High School and Atlanta Middle School at the time the allegations were made.
At that time Superintendent Jason Harris said “We can assure you that when district personnel learned of the allegations, immediate action was taken, and that staff member was placed on leave pending the outcome of an internal and police investigation. This individual is no longer working for the district.
“Any time allegations of this nature are brought to us, we act swiftly and effectively to take appropriate action. The details are being investigated by district personnel, and we are filing all necessary reports required by law to the Texas Education Agency. There is no greater priority than the health, safety and welfare of our children, and we applaud the individual(s) who bravely came forward with information and reported it to authorities.”
