Storms postpone Saturday’s double downtown events

The Atlanta Chamber Board of Directors has approved a reschedule date for the event for June 24, from 5-9 p.m.

Saturday’s sudden summer storm caused the unfortunate postponement of Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce’s much-anticipated double- event.

According to reports, folks can look forward to the rescheduling of Atlanta Local Summer Maker’s Market and the Steven F. Smith Memorial Cruise Night soon.

Both events, scheduled from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. were to feature live music, classic cars, artisans and specialty vendors and a food truck court. More than 60 craft/ food vendors were slated to attend and sell their unique, specialty wares during the combined events, while many downtown businesses had also planned to stay open late.

City National Bank was the presenting sponsor for the Memorial Cruise Night.

The chamber had the tough decision to cancel the events at 2 p.m. Saturday, after forecasts showed extended thunderstorm watch until 5:00 p.m. Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce’s Facebook page read that, although they had hoped the storm would be a one-anddone, the forecast extended the warning.

“With that in mind, we must make the call to postpone tonight’s event,” the chamber page read. “We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work to reschedule this event. We hope to have a new date picked out later this week.”

“We look forward to hosting this awesome event in the near future,” the post added.
