Sticker mistake leads to trash confusion

Some Atlanta business owners have been frustrated with the city’s new trash service after watching their trashcans sit on the sidewalk untouched for days past the scheduled collection days. The issue was brought to City Manager David Cockrell’s attention last Thursday and he immediately called Sanitation Solutions.

As it turns out, the confusion stems from misplaced stickers, rather than poor service. According to Cockrell businesses on Williams Street received their Atlanta Rabbit Maroon containers with stickers instructing them to put the trash on the sidewalk each Wednesday. However, the stickers were supposed to read “Friday” instead. This led to trash piling up on the sidewalk and sitting for several days each week, creating a smelly eyesore.

“Some customers are still confused by the day and time, and the maps weren’t very clear,” said Cockrell. “Considering we have about 2,200 accounts overall it’s gone very well.”
