Special guests attend meeting
On Sept. 24, in the historic Cass County Courthouse, members of the Cass County Historical Commission hosted Amy Hammons of the Texas Historical Commission and three board members of Preservation Texas, Jane Ashburn, Evan Thompson, and Sue Lazara.
The four special guests spoke about the missions of their respective entities and some of the services available from them.
Local civic organizations, the general public, mayors, city councils, and economic development corporations from all over Cass County were invited to attend.
Among those attending were Cass County Judge Becky Wilbanks, Linden City Administrator Bob Swisher, Linden Main Street Director Allie Anderson, Linden Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Christophe Trahan, and Linden Heritage Foundation Board President Joe B. Lovelace and members Pat Rountree and Brenda Deming.
Also present were Lindenites Nancy Belford, Allene Kelly, and Bennie Rogers. Brenda Mandela of Hughes Springs served as the official photographer.
Cass County Historical Commissioners present were President Marvin Kelly, Gary Endsley, Kathy Peacock, Kay Stephens, Flo Stevenson, and Greta Wright.
