Rock the Block back to school block party

It was a block party unlike any other. With vendors set up and ready to sell their wares by 6 p.m., along with games for the kids, recruiters from the Army, Marines, and Air Force, and even the Macedonia Baptist Church, who set up to give out free school supplies and cold drinks, the party was ready to start. Residents and non-residents alike came out to celebrate the Back to School Rock the Block despite the heat. Members of the Total Chaos softball team were proud of their community’s support for not only Linden Together, but also loved the fact that this was something geared towards the kids of the community as well. Vendors, too, were thrilled by the support of the community and the opportunity to set up shop in the downtown area for free during the party.

Indeed, it was a party. The event, hosted by the newly formed group Linden Together, also featured a giveaway with prizes donated by local businesses and ended with a street dance with music provided by local YOGO Man, under the glow of the historic water tower. Linden Together is working hard to continue the tradition of fun community events and is looking to host a Fall Festival later this year.
