Relief coming from extreme temperatures
Northeast Texas has experienced abnormally high heat this August, with much of the state being under heat advisories. With the high heat and dry conditions Cass County continues to be under a burn ban. The good news is this week the area will receive a bit of a respite with temperatures around the low 90’s. It is still important to stay hydrated and not to leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.
The last two Fridays and Saturdays have reached 106 degrees making this month one of the hottest Augusts in recent memory.
Even though Cass County received some much-needed rain on Sunday, the county is still teetering with drought conditions.
Currently, as a county, we are sitting in moderate drought conditions and abnormally dry depending on where you are in the county.
