Readers’ Choice Best People and Places votes have been counted
Readers’ Choice Best People and Places is over for 2024. The contest ended on August 9, at 10:00 p.m. We have finished counting and are beginning to visit area businesses. Since there are hundreds of categories in 2024 it takes time to get out to the winners.
This year we will also announce those who won soon on social media and an email blast to the many who voted. Those businesses/individuals can come by and pick up their certificates at the office if we don’t reach your businesses first. We will only release the names of the winners. Everyone will have to wait for the complete results in an upcoming special section that will take place soon.
We are doing it this way to help everyone get their certificates sooner this year. Also, this will give everyone a chance to say thank you to those who voted for them in our upcoming results section.
Winners will have the opportunity to put a thank you ad in that section. This serves three purposes.
First, it lets the community know that you care about those who took the time to vote for them. Second, it is a great time to connect with future customers in this highly-read section. Lastly, the ad money we receive helps with the ongoing cost of keeping the readers’ choice contest going every year and the general health of your local newspaper.
The Journal-Sun would like to thank all the participants this year. We have had a few stoppages and glitches but overall. For using a brand-new platform, I am thankful for the healthy competition and fun it has generated. This new system will only get better.
Like the previous few years, we are featuring two contests. This contest features the best people and places. The second contest later this year will be all about food, drink, arts, and entertainment. This year we are using new voting software to hold the contest. This comes with excitement and challenges.
