Queen City takes part in Read Across America

Students at J.K. Hileman Elementary celebrated Read Across America by listening to stories read by some of their favorite grown up Bulldogs.
Librarian, Lisa Hensley, organized a group of volunteers including retired teachers, coaches, band directors, custodians, firemen, administrators, and more to stop by and read their favorite children’s book to the eager little bulldogs.
Read Across America was started by the National Education Association in 1997 to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday and encourage a love of reading among our youth.
Bringing in community members to read to students is just a fun way to show kids that reading is important to Bulldogs of all ages.
