Queen City City Council
The city of Queen City will hold an election for Place 1 and Place 2 on the city council.
The council voted Thursday, Feb. 12, in the regular meeting to hold the general election on Saturday, May 2.
Place 1 is currently held by Gary “Buddy” Dodd and Place 2 is held by W.L. “Buddy” Quarles.
As of Thursday night’s meeting, only the incumbents had filed to run.
The deadline to file for a place on the ballot was Friday, Feb. 13.
Voters have until Tuesday, April 21, to apply for a ballot by mail.
In-person voting will be held from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Queen City City Hall, located at 601 Loop 236.
The council also voted unanimously Thursday night to approve a resolution to deny SWEPCO tariff rates.
Queen City Mayor Harold Martin said the vote would not stop them from imposing the tariffs but would delay it.
