Pauline A. Fisher

Mrs. Pauline A. Fisher was born in 1912 and began her teaching career in Atlanta at Pruitt High School, Booker T. Washington High School in 1931.

She obtained her B.A. from Bishop College in Marshall, Texas and her M.A. from Texas College in Tyler, Texas.

After teaching a couple of years at Bloomburg she returned to Atlanta ISD. She was a hometown teacher; she knew your father, mother and grandparents.

She gave equal teaching skills to every student and if you were a little slower with your assignment, she gave enough time for you to get finished.

Mrs. Fisher had one child, John Barber, who played in the NBA for the Minneapolis Lakers in 1956. Barber is one of 36 American basketball players to ever score 100 or more points in a game.

Barber went on to score more than 100 points three times. Number 25, no one can say. Mrs. Fisher taught many students to the best of her ability. She was my English teacher for two years in 1975 and 1976. She was one of the nicest teachers I ever had in my life. Mrs. Fisher passed away in 1996 at the age of 84.
