Over $50k stolen from Linden ATM
The Linden Police Department reported that “on January 17, 2021, Sunday morning, at approximately 03:20 a.m., a burglary occurred at the Texar ATM located on US Hwy. 59 in Linden, TX.”
“Officers arrived on the scene and observed a Ford F350, white in color, in front of the ATM with a chain attached to the back of it, the chain was used to pull the vault door off of the ATM allowing the suspects access to the money boxes inside.”
According to the Linden press release “The F350 was stolen from a resident of Atlanta, Texas who was unaware that the vehicle had been stolen at the time of the offense.”
“The suspects stole the truck, used to commit the offense, and left the truck at the scene of the crime as the suspects fled in another vehicle.”
The vehicle was stolen from the 900 block of Mockingbird in Atlanta, according to the Atlanta Police Department.
Linden Police Department Chief of Police Eric Lee reported that “surveillance footage from the ATM leads law enforcement officials to believe that four suspects were involved in this burglary. Suspects were able to steal a sum of money greater than $50,000 in a very short time frame.”
As of January 26, The Linden Police Department is continuing their investigation with area police departments and asks for assistance from the public, with the hope of receiving any information that leads to the apprehension of those responsible for this crime.
This is being investigated by Investigators of the Linden Police Department with the assistance of the Texas Rangers. The theft of the vehicle used in the crime is being investigated by the Atlanta Police Department.
