Out of Zion
During this pandemic, we have seen our borders shut down, not only in America, but throughout the whole world. No one was able to fly in or out of our country for a while, we made our country like as a refuge, where no more of the virus could enter in.
The Hebrew meaning of Zion, the city of David, is fortress, or refuge.
1 Peter 2:6-9 says Wherefore also it is contained in scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious, and he that believes on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe, he is precious but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, and a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient, whereunto also they were appointed. But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
We, who believe in Christ Jesus, are chosen, are holy, a special people unto the Lord. To the world, we are, as Paul said, the filth of the world. We are different from the world, a called out assembly.
Isaiah 2:2-3 - and it shall come to pass in the last days that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, and he will teach us of his ways and we will walk in his paths, for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
This is where the word of the Lord, the law is coming out of, and we will walk in his paths.
Jesus is our refuge, though we see all the evil around us, we are walking in Zion. God is keeping his chosen generation. He is our refuge, our sanctuary.
Isaiah chapters 3&4, talk about how haughty and prideful Zion had become, God said he would bring judgements to cleanse the filth.
4:2- in that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent, and comely for them that are escaped of Israel. And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remains in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even everyone that is written among the living in Jerusalem. When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst there of by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.
Zion became the center of worship and sacrifice with the building of Solomon’s temple.
But we know that we are dwelling in spiritual Mt. Zion, Jesus, being the chief corner stone, our place of refuge, our strength, the perfection of beauty.
