One fatality in accident

On Jan. 12, at approximately 1:50 a.m., Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers were called to a two vehicle crash on US 59 approximately six miles north of the city of Linden in Cass County.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2000 white Honda Accord was traveling south on US 59. A 2008 black Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling north on US 59.

For an as of yet undetermined reason the Honda drove off the roadway, across the center median, and into the north bound lanes of travel. This caused the Chevrolet to strike the Honda. The Honda came to rest in the north bound lanes of travel and the Chevrolet came to rest on the east side of the roadway in the ditch.

The driver of the Honda, 25-yearold Marcos Cisneros, of Bryan was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bridget Smith. The driver of the Chevrolet, 65 year-old, Alice Powell, of Atlanta was transported to LSU Health Hospital in Shreveport with unknown injuries.
