Myreline Elizabeth Dailey Bowman
Myreline Elizabeth Dailey Bowman, born 8 June 1921, Queen City, Texas in the old Ellington house, in the Blalock Community, delivered by Dr. R. F. Roach, the daughter of John Thomas Dailey and Annie Mae Blalock Dailey. Her father worked in the oil fields, and she grew up in El Dorado, Arkansas.
Myreline married (1) James M. Dumas and had five children, later divorced.
1. Patrica Loraine born 15 May 1939, died 16 May 1939.
2. James Albert born 9 May 1940, Kilgore, Gregg County, Texas, married 16 July I960, Nancy Kay Willis. James and Nancy had two children: Jamie Kay Bowman and Michall Stephen Bowman. James Albert died 7 January 1973 Arleta, California. 3. Linda Ann born 1 March 1943, El-Dorado, Arkansas, married (1) Gary Noah, later divorced, two children: Laurie Ann Noah and John Gerald Noah. Married (2) Sammy C. Law.
4. Joe Thomas born 17 February 1944 Atlanta, Cass County, Texas, married Ursula Pachonik, to this union was born Nicole Dumas.
5. Robert Paul born 5 September 1946, Atlanta, Texas, married (1) Gayle Law of Atlanta, later divorced. One son James Travis Dumas.
Myreline married (2) 16 April 1953 Donald Stephen Bowman, Mesa, Arizonia. They moved to Hollister, California, February 1954 and to the Los Angeles area in January 1955- This is where Myreline visited the Los Angeles Library and learned to do family research and later taught others how- to do family research. Donald S. Bowman born 15 May 1929, Bever, Utah.
Myreline and Donald moved back to Queen City and set up their own Printing shop. Myreline writes in her book “People of Cass County, Atlanta and Queen City, Texas, Volume I” that Donald had; been a good husband and wonderful to her children, and thru his hard work it was possible to publish her books in their own Printing Shop.
Myreline, with Donald’s help, organized the Cass County Genealogical Society 6 November 1973, and served as the first president of the Society and was always ready to substitute in any office when needed. She was the Secretary-Reporter at the time of her death. Donald and Myreline have published for The Cass County Genealogical Society the following books: Texas, Cass County, Recipes of Pioneer Women, and their Relations, Volume I, compiled by members of the Society and others; Cass County Pedigrees; Cass County Cemeteries and all the Quarterlies for the Society plus several books of their own. The book “History of Cass County People” was Myreline’s project with the help of the members of Cass County Genealogical Society, Her untimely death 12 February 1982 left the book unfinished. Donald S. Bowman wanted to go ahead and publish the book in her memory. So, through the corporation of members of the Society and others working collecting histories, typing, proof-reading, and indexing with Mr. Bowman printing, the book is finished, as we get the book into the hands of former and present people of Cass County. To you Myreline, we dedicate this book.
Myreline was a member of the Trammel’s Trace Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution on her ancestor, Lewis Blalock of South Carolina.
The Chapter gave in memory of Myreline to the Atlanta Memorial Library, A copy “1850 Texas Census Index” Myreline Elizabeth Dailey Bowman died 12 February 1982 Atlanta, Texas, buried 15 February 1982 in the Antioch Cemetery, Queen City, Texas.
