MY SIDE OF TOWN
Around town you see a lot of grown-up bushes on lots. I have done a little research and most of these lots are owned by people who live out of town or are deceased. They pay taxes on these lots.
Most of the heirs of these lots do not even know where the property is located and no one is going to complain because they are complacent with the situation.
You keep your yard mowed and right next to your lawn is a grown-up area.
I walked through the bushes on some of these lots and saw old TVs, trash from the 90s and old car parts.
Who knows what is out there? It could be places for a raccoon nest, a place for opossums to hang out along with snakes, rats and skunks.
The city does a great job of keeping grass off curbs and I know our city workers have other day by day jobs to do, but can we at least clean these lots once a month. How about just a few lots over a month or two and let’s see what it looks like when the clean up is complete.
