MCTT hosts Vince Gill, Mark Germino and Tony Arata for a songwriters in the round
Vince Gill, Mark Germino and Tony Arata played a unique songwriters in the round concert at Music City Texas Theater in Linden, Texas.
They each took turns singing some of their favorite songs from years past.
“It’s great to be in Texas, I love Texas and the food is great. The way to my heart is food,” said Gill.
The theater was packed to the brim with music lovers on Sat., Oct. 27 for the event.
When Gill sang ‘Face of an Angel’ he said ,”one of the biggest thrills of his life was that Willie Nelson recorded the song as well.”
Tony Arata wrote the song ‘The Dance’ that is one of Garth Brooks biggest hit.
Tony spoke about how he was playing in the venue Bluebird Café in Nashville, TN and Garth Brooks heard the song and said if he got a record deal he was going to record it.
Richard Bowden along with the Executive Director of MCTT, David Hulme, introduced the songwriters.
“I saw these guys eight years ago and ever since then I wanted them to play here ever since,” said Bowden.
Halfway through the concert Bowden served as the auctioneer for the concert and sold two guitars signed by the songwriters.
The first guitar was a acoustic Yamaha guitar that was purchased by Sam Higdon for $2,500.
“This is a Yamaha, and you don’t even have to put oil and gas in it,” said Bowden jokingly.
The second guitar was a electric Epiphone guitar signed by the songwriters and it sold for $2,000 to Jamie Smith.
The group played for mor e than two hours including an encore.
After the show high level patrons had the opportunity to have a meet and great with the group of songwriters.
