Man dies in train accident

Sergeant Gregg Williams, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Highway Patrol issued a release on January 22 of a vehicle/train collision that resulted in a fatality.

James Martin, 92, of Doddridge, AR. died January 21, at 2:55 p.m. when his 2007 Mercury Marquis was crossing the railroad tracks on CR 4920 about 2 miles southeast of Bloomburg and failed to yield the right of way to a Union Pacific Freight Train traveling northbound.

Martin died at the scene. In the police report officer Ethan Sartor, THP Linden reported that it was an unguarded crossing.

The accident is still under investigation.
