Locally owned, locally learned

It is no secret that starting and owning a small business can be a challenge. Business plans, ordering product, finding a place for your business, giving your budding business a name, these are all extremely important facets of being your own boss. But there are so many other sides to business ownership that most just starting out don’t realize. That is why Christophe Trahan with the EDC in Linden hosted the first Entrepreneurs Small Business Workshop on November 20th.

This first workshop focused on best bookkeeping practices with special guest speaker Kathy Williams with Professional Office Solutions.

Williams offers a full range of bookkeeping services for small business owners including financial statements, accounts payable and receivable, full payroll services, and even QuickBooks installation, training, and support.

Williams talked about the importance of good bookkeeping and answered many questions from those in attendance.

The inaugural workshop was a definite success. The turnout far exceeded any expectations. Hosted at The County Seat Country Cooking Café, guests quickly filled the reserved room, but those at the Café stepped up and arranged tables so that everyone in attendance were able to fully participate. Following a wonderfully informative workshop, guests were provided with a delicious meal and were able to visit and network.

Trahan and the EDC look forward to hosting many more workshops for small business owners every quarter with a different topic each workshop. For more information on small business ownership in Linden you can contact Linden Economic Development Corporation at 903-756-7774.
