Local woman dies in fire

A local woman was found dead after her mobile home caught fire at about 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 25 in Rodessa, Louisiana, according to Sheriff Steve Prator with Caddo Parish Sheriff ’s Office.

Rhonda Tyson Alexander, 51, was said to have been the sole occupant of the mobile home in the 11000 block of French Road in Rodessa. Alexander was found to have perished in the fire.

Rodessa is located in Caddo Parish–about 10 miles southwest of Bloomburg, Texas (Cass County.)

The Caddo Parish Sheriff ’s Office is assisting two agencies with an investigation into the fatal fire, Prator said. Caddo Fire District 8 and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal are leading the investigation into how the fire started.

Investigators told KSLA news that two family members who lived down the street attempted to rescue Alexander and officials believe the fire started in the bedroom.

An autopsy will determine Alexander’s cause of death. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Vivian, Louisiana officiated by Rev. Joey Grappe and Rev. Perry Hart, according to her obituary at vivianfuneralhome.com.

Alexander will be remembered as a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend.
