Local students receive scholarships

The Eastern Cass County School Retirees Association is the local association of the Texas Retired Teachers Association. The state association is the largest retired educator association in the United States and the Cass County unit is the largest local in Cass County.

Eastern Cass County SRA was formed in March of 1998 and presented the first scholarships to four graduating seniors in May 1999.

From then until today, the local association has presented scholarships to graduating seniors in Atlanta, Bloomburg, McLeod and Queen City High Schools.

This year’s applications were very impressive and it was sometimes difficult to determine the recipients.

The decisions were based on a point system. The scholarship committee members presented the scholarship certificates.

The following seniors received scholarships: Peyton Gaston - Atlanta High School, Jaysi Pond and Sunni Blizzard - Bloomburg High School, Carsen Parker- McLeod High School, and Cade Warren - Queen City High School.
