Local Girl Scouts enjoy tea party

Texarkana Museum Systems hosted a Girls and Gals Tea Party for local members of Girl Scouts Diamonds of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas on April 11 at the P.J. Ahrens Home in Texarkana. Dawn Prasifka, president of the Girl Scouts Diamonds, came from the Little Rock headquarters to join the girls for afternoon tea.

The event was originally planned to take place at the Ace of Clubs Carriage House, but recent storm damage caused the location change. Museum Curator Jamie Simmons changed the planned croquet lesson on the lawn to a fancy napkin folding lesson.

This was the first group event the local troops have participated in since the COVID-19 social distancing rules were lifted. To celebrate, the girls and their mothers dressed up to enjoy the hot tea, sandwiches and cakes, just like they would have a century ago.
