DVFD hamburger supper Nov.8

The Douglassville Volunteer Fire Department will host a hamburger supper from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Bowie-Cass Mabel Bryan Morriss Building. Donations are welcome.

Texas Arbor Day

Texas Arbor Day will be celebrated at Linden City Park across from the Linden Elementary School, with a program and planting of a native tree. This is our fourth year to add trees to the park. Community members involved include City of Linden, the A&M Forestry Services, student representatives from L-K FFA, Linden Elementary and Linden Garden Club. Please plan to attend and continue to support our community and these great organizations in making Linden better.

Pot Stew Dinner Nov. 8

Center Grove Cemetery Association will hold their Annual Pot Stew Dinner Nov. 8 at the Center Grove Baptist Church. Starting at 5 p.m. directly after the meeting. This Annual fundraiser helps provide funds to cover costs involved in taking care of the needs and maintenance at the Center Grove Cemetery.

Free meals

Starting in October, Queen City Methodist Church will serve beans, soup, cornbread and desserts from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every first Monday of the month. For more information, please contact Elouise at 903-796-7525.

Linden Garden Club meetings

The Linden Garden Club meets on the third Wednesday of every month (August through May) at the Linden Garden Club building at 300 East Houston Street, Linden. The meeting time is 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Members and visitors are welcome to bring a sack lunch to enjoy from 11:30 till noon. Desserts and drinks are provided. The meeting and programs begin at noon. Everyone is welcome.

Native Plant Society meetings

Native Plant Society Caddo Chapter meets 4th Tuesday of the month (Jan-Oct) starting off with a potluck and ending with a plant raffle at the Mary Daugherty Senior Canter in Linden. All are Welcome!

Retirees Association meetings

The Eastern Cass County School Retirees Association meets every second Tuesday of each month from September through May at the Queen City Methodist Church located on Marietta Street. Social time begins at 10 a.m. and meetings begin at 10:30 a.m. For more information call 903-846-2657.

Senior Citizens Center

The Mary Daugherty Senior Citizens Center is open all week for anyone who would like to join the group there for bingo, exercise, crocheting and a meal. Monday, Wednesday and Friday exercise is from 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by bingo from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and eating from 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. On Tuesday crocheting is from 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by bingo from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and eating from 10:45 to 11:30. On Thursday bingo is from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by eating from 10:45 to 11:30.

Every third Friday of the month they have “Birthday Friday” where they celebrate birthdays and have cake for those present. That normally begins at 10:45.
