Local cuffed in connection to Marshall restaurant shooting

A Cass County teen was cuffed Thursday as one half of a duo allegedly connected to a shooting at Jucys Taco restaurant in Marshall, Texas last month, Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe confirmed.

Seth Wilson, 19, of Queen City, Texas, was taken into custody by Linden, Texas Police, and Cass County Sheriff ’s deputies. An alleged co-conspirator, Jamaal Jones, 26, of Tampa Florida, was also apprehended, according to a press release from Marshall Police.

Wilson and Jones are being held at Harrison County Jail on charges of engaging in organized criminal activity, with both incurring individual bonds set at $100,000, according to police.

KLTV reported that the shooting incident happened outside Jucys Taco on January 15.

Police said they responded to the restaurant at about 5:30 p.m. on January 15th after calls came in regarding gunshots at the Victory Drive location in Marshall outside Jucys Taco.

Responding officers arrived at the scene to find a person suffering from a gunshot wound. That person was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

According to reports taken by police, witnesses said a silver Nissan had left the scene of the shooting. Another man–who witnesses said took off running east–was found to have also been shot once officers caught up with him. That man was also taken by ambulance.

Reports state the investigation was led by Marshall Police Department detectives and the Joint Violent Crimes and Narcotics Task Force.

Police at the time said additional arrests would be made when suspects were given medical clearance from injuries suffered during the shooting.

Marshall News Messenger reported that Marshall Chief of Police Cliff Carruth said police there are committed to keeping their community safe from violent crimes and would-be violent offenders.

“Our officers continue to work tirelessly on all our violent crime cases, which resulted in these charges and arrests,” Carruth told Marshall News Messenger. “This investigation highlights the cooperative efforts of law enforcement professionals.”

“The Marshall Police Department will continue our commitment to making our community safer,” he said.

Though Wilson was apprehended in Linden, Texas, and is reportedly from Queen City, Journal-Sun staff were unable to gather information as to whether or not Jones was arrested in the Cass County area.
