Local artist donates painting for library fundraiser

The Linden Public Library will temporarily house a new treasure this fall. Local artist, Terri DeNatale has donated an original painting valued at $5,000 to help further fundraising efforts for the library. Due to the overwhelming need for major street repair work within city limits, the new City budget (beginning October 1, 2022) could not accommodate the entirety of the library’s operating budget.

While the City will continue to pay for the full-time librarian’s position, the remainder of the facility’s budget will be privately fundraised by a new library board created by the Linden City Council. The Linden Public Library Board began meeting before the start of the new budget to develop a fundraising plan for the year.

Fundraising efforts are kicking off with a bang thanks to the donation of Ms. DeNatale’s artwork. The watercolor painting of peony flowers from Ms. DeNatale’s former home in Maine is made up of vibrant reds, blues and greens and is set in a custom-made frame. Tickets for the raffle are $10 each or 11 tickets for $100. Members of the library VIP program get 12 tickets for $100 – call the library for more information about joining the program.

The drawing for the raffle will be held at a light reception on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the library, 220 S. Main St. The winner does not need to be present to win. Tickets may be purchased at the library or on the library’s website, www.lindenpubliclibrary.org. Please follow the library on Facebook for updates and more information on opportunities to support the library.
