Lions Club ends year with a roar
On Dec. 12, the Lions Club met in celebration of an amazing year of service. The winner of the blanket donated by Lion Terri De-Natale was won by Pilar McLemore of Longview, Texas.
Ms. McLemore donated the blanket back to Lions Club and asked that it be displayed at Linden-Kildare High School. Lion Joe De-Natale would like to announce the possibility of a nonfiction history reading club. If you are interested, please sign up at the Linden Public Library.
This year was definitely one to celebrate for the Lions Club as they participated in eight fundraisers.
Starting the year with Texas Wild Flower Trails in April. Followed by Spin to Win, the Ladies Luncheon, Veterans Salute, the lighting of the historic water tower as a vendor, a pancake breakfast, the pumpkin decorating contest during the Halloween festivities, and ending with the chicken pot stew, which sold out around lunch. They have also been able to donate many prescription eyeglasses to those in need.
Also of note, the Lions Club exceeded their goals for their scholarships and girls and boys state.
There was no special guest speaker this week, however, a cake was enjoyed by those in attendance to celebrate all of the wonderful accomplishments of the Lions Club this year.
