Linden Public House reopening
It has been a year since Clay and Anna Eddings closed the doors on their establishment, the Linden Public House, but the town staple may yet live another day as it comes under new ownership.
Husband and wife, Michael and Natalie Gorman, who hail from California, joined the community of Linden by purchasing the Linden Public House earlier this year. The century-old, dogtrot-style house is in the process of re-opening as a “Komfort Kitchen” restaurant, with plans to serve traditional Southern dishes such as pulled pork, baked maca roni and cheese, collard greens and cornbread, and what Natalie likes to call Gumbo Sundays.
“It’s a good, hearty conversation meal. People sit around, and what-not, and talk,” she explained. “The atmosphere is just open for people having conversation. It’s very homey. That’s what I liked about [the house].”
As for why the Gormans chose Linden, Natalie, a retired Marine, says she was looking for property for when her husband also retires from the Marine Corps. “We’re glad that we’re here. Of course, we’re hoping everybody loves the food, and thanks for welcoming us into the Linden family.”
The Gormans, who have a vast history of cooking in the family and opening restaurants, were immediately taken by the house’s charm. Residents will be glad to know that not much will change inside the house as Natalie’s intention is to keep the motif and feel of the house and the history of Linden intact.
“I’m actually trying to gather a lot of the history for the house because I’d like to kind of implement it in different areas in terms of pictures of people who used to live here,” she said. “I think that would be interesting because it does have a history in the town.”
Linden Public House will have a grand opening on April 15th, with reservations starting at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
