Linden lights up
After a fun-filled day of shopping, food, music, family, and friends, residents and non-residents alike were treated to the lighting of the historical Linden water tower.
Built-in 1934, the water tower has stood as a symbol of Linden’s pride and love for the history and beauty of smalltown life. In 2015 the water town was almost demolished, but musician and Linden native Don Henley stepped in to help save the iconic water tower. He even featured it in a video promotion of his album Cass County.
The water tower is indeed a prominent and beautiful addition to the city’s skyline. To celebrate this iconic image of the city, Saturday, after the sun’s light had faded from the sky, those in attendance were treated to a light show. At eight-thirty the city’s skyline was made colorful when Longview Lighting turned on the historic towers lights.
A rainbow of colors danced across the silver of the tower and gave a new life to a historic piece of Linden. Residents and travelers will now be treated to a dance of color and light when the sun goes down, adding a new delightful ambiance to this already charming town.
