Linden Chapter 576 Grand Chapter of Texas Order of the Eastern Star
Linden Chapter 576 was established Oct. 14, 1914. In the past year the chapter has sold calendars with business ads to raise funds for its general fund and to provide money for scholarships for seniors at Atlanta, Queen City and Linden-Kildare.
We also give money to Cass County Child Protective services and to the support of Linden Masonic Lodge 192.
Eastern Star is considered to be a benevolent organization and has contributed funds to support Multiple Sclerosis, State Parks of Texas, and Patriot Paws which provides service dogs to veterans. Previous years has seen the support of Scottish Rite Hospitals in Texas, the American Cancer Society and more.
Membership in the order requires a belief in a Supreme Being. All of our teachings are based on the Holy Bible. No meeting is held without the open Bible being present.
Creation of the order of the Eastern Star began in 1850 with the writing of the ritual by Dr. Rob Morris. It was his desire “that the female relatives of Master Masons should share the benefits from knowledge of this great fraternal order.”
In 1876, the General Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, was organized. Currently, the General Grand Chapter chapter has jurisdiction over chapters in the United States, the provinces of Canada, Puerto Rico and Bolivia. A Supreme Grand Chapter of Scotland has jurisdiction over Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales, South Africa, and New Zealand. Chapters also exist in Australia, Aruba, Brazil, Columbia, Peru, Taiwan, Germany, Guam, Japan, Mexico and many other countries.
