A life pleasing to the Father
Much of our society has a misconception about God. If all people had a correct concept of God, then all people would desire to serve him. We who do know him and rightly convey Him to this world, find both a privilege and a responsibility in serving the Lord. However many people today have an erroneous concept of God and Christianity.
Christianity is a way of life. It is not a philosophy, and it is much more than just a religious experience. It is about a relationship and a way of life that stems from it. It is living to please God.
To live for any other reason is a serious offence against the Lord. In Numbers 20:1-12 the children of Israel complained to Moses and Aaron about the lack of water. These two leaders fell on their faces before God. God told them to speak to the rock, and it would bring forth water. But Moses in his anger smote the rock. Although God did provide water, he chided Moses and Aaron for not sanctifying and glorifying him in the eyes of the nation. As a result, God did not permit Moses and Aaron to enter into the Promised Land.
Every Christian has the responsibility to live their life to please and glorify God. but how do we please him? First, we live for Him (2nd Corinthians 5:15) Second we obey him (Isaiah 1:19) Third, we bear fruit (John 15:8) Fourth, we let our lights shine before men (Matthew 5:16) 1st Corinthians 6:19, 20 What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
